This door for annie is a small act.

It is early 2025; Trump has resumed office as president of the United States. Tensions are growing. Skin color, residency, citizenship, family, heritage, medicine, science, art, education, safety, security -- everything feels at stake. I am supposed to know who I am, what I stand for. I'm supposed to make a bunch of statements, really use the privileges I have to make a difference.

I am so tired.

This door for annie is a small act. It will not change the policies; it will not change our families. It will not garner any outrage or sympathy by being displayed at some gallery. No, it will do none of those things. It is merely there to provide rest; provide privacy. Dining rooms are not meant to be bedrooms, much like we are not meant to live in constant states of unrest.

Designed with care in mind, it provides a sturdy, social-physical demarkation of space, while minimizing damage to the house structure (no drilling into the frame). Snugly fit into the entry frame and held up by tension, this door is my small act of rebellion and care.
